Dear Class of 2002,
Welcome to another episode of Ramona is Really Enthusiastic. There is so much to share and honestly this email could have been a lot longer–but I have limited it to the top 3 things I am excited about right now.
#1: Programming from and for Class of 2002
Class Board is organizing two ways for classmates to connect, have fun, and exchange valuable information.
“2002 Invites You!” Host or join a group of alums for a cookie, a coffee, or a cocktail, on us! So far we’ve had meetups in the Washington, DC area and in Seattle, WA and Eugene, OR. Coming soon: Maine in September and South Hadley in October. Who else wants to host an event? We’re looking at you NYC, LA, and Boston! Reply to this email for more info.
“2002 Talks” will be a series of online conversations—on topics ranging from getting your kids into private school or college, to online meditation, to tools for grieving the loss of parents—from members of our class who are professionals in the relevant fields. We can be the resources we need right now. Do you have an idea for a Talk that would be relevant to classmates? Is there a topic you’d like to know more about? Is anyone an expert in retirement planning?! Don’t hesitate to be in touch by replying to this email. As Talks are scheduled, info will arrive by email and be listed on our website and social media pages (links are at the bottom of this email).
#2: Class Notes Submissions are due right now! Please send updates to our Scribes, Jennifer Garrow and Maggie Lichter Grady at scribe02@mtholyoke.edu.
#3: Giving to MHC Let’s celebrate exceeding our giving goal for FY23-24: the Class of 2002 raised an astonishing $38,273 for MHC from just 93 donors, plus an additional $7,000 in matching funds earned during March4MHC. Thank you to our team of Head Class Agents and Class Agents: Aili Petersen, Kyrie Gilmore, Erica Lutes, Lisa Utzinger Shen, Milia Akkouris, Stacy Jagodowski, and Thanh Tran. Huge thanks also to all who contributed! Donations really do add up quickly. We can also celebrate meeting our participation goal of 22%.
We can do even better this year. Our goals for FY24-25 are to raise $45,000 with participation from 25% of the class (105 donors). Gifts are welcome anytime, but you’ll see pushes from our giving team around the end of the year (December), the March4MHC campaign (early March), and the end of the fiscal year (June 30).
The other Class Agents and I love to hear from classmates. We work hard all year, trying to ensure that we make our goals and continue to raise funds for Mount Holyoke, because we believe that it is important to support our alma mater. The College relies on gifts from alums, as tuition covers only 62% of costs. If you’re not sure when you last gave to MHC, feel free to reply to this email or to contact your Class Agent, who you should be receiving emails from. If you don’t think you get emails from a Class Agent, or if this is the first email you’re getting from our class, then it’s time to check your spam folder and mark emails from MHC as not spam.
I hope you are having a wonderful summer, and I hope to see you (at least online) soon.
All my best,
Ramona Marks
Class President 2002
P.S.: How can we best keep in touch with you? If you haven’t yet, we’d like every class member to fill out this form. And please join us online on Facebook, Instagram, or LinkedIn.
